jubilee weekend . . .

hope you all had a great JUBILEE weekend! now we are back to school and back to work . . . this term at craft club we are making cushions, self portraits and doing a bit of watercolours!! can't wait to get started . . .

pincushion swap

i recently took part in a pincushion swap organsied by house of pinherio. i was paired up with hayley who is a crafter and makes wonderful beads and bag knits, not to mention and all sorts of crafty things! you can see her website here. so i received my pincushion and a gorgeous octopus brooch just the other day . . . i was sooooo excited! happy days! so thanks to hayley and thanks to house of pinherio for organising this! my pincuhion sits happily on my desk! *smile*

yesterday's craft club

we had a go at printing at craft club! it was sooo much fun! next week we will be printing onto fabric and then making something out of the fabric . . . we are taking a vote with the kids as to what, so not sure yet . . . some are saying aprons, some are saying cushions . . . what do you think?

sock creature workshop

we recently ran a 'sock creature' workshop at little willows in pinner . . . it was such a lot of fun! the characters of each sock creature always amazes me - they are all so unique! love them. x

we are running a regular craft club there starting EVERY WEDNESDAY from 13 JUNE - 18 JUNE. contact us for more information, or book at little willows!

watercolour

have been planning some watercolour painting with the craft club next term, perhaps some fruits and vegetables to start with . . . just thinking . . . what do you think?

it's wet . . .

what miserable weather! rain, grey, wet, cold . . . . all i can think, to make me feel better, is that my garden needs the water and it's great for the plants!

been busy with work this week - doing lots of illustration work - all concept work, so i can't share anything just yet! but looking forward to craft club today with the kids . . . last week we made a start on making needle cases and wallets out of felt. here are photos of my samples (will share the kids work once they are finished) AND, AND, AND . . . next week we are doing some fabric printing . . . how exciting is that!?

hunny bunny

i've been dying to make myself this gorgeous bunny from carly schwerdt's blog, moopy and me. i made it using some tweed and linen fabric i have had knocking around in my box. she's going to keep me company as i work today (not sure how long she will last here though, as anya has her eye on her . . . bet hunny bunny will disappear into her den soon!) have a go at making one - it's super easy and very satisfying!

so . . .

back to school tomorrow, which means back to work for me! sewing club and craft club starts again with lots of new children!!! HURRAH! got loads of exciting things for them to do, so watch this space . . .

meanwhile anya has had the paints out and painted (him-in-doors and) me, a lovely picture of herself . . .

this week . . .

phew! it's the easter holidays - hurrah! just spent a few hours in the park with (probably) half the school!! really looking forwards to having some lazy mornings, baking cakes with the kids, reading books and just generally chilling! *smile* we may even eat a few chocolate bunnies!

it was a mad rush at the end of term to get the children to finish all their work at craft club, but we got there! the older class were making keyrings, whilst the little ones were making hand puppets. here are a few for you to see . . . (also one of the girls was taken quite ill and ended up in hospital, so we made her a 'get well card') 

so i'm taking a few (well deserved) weeks off . . . see you in April. xxx

it's mothers day . . .

at Craft Club we have been making gifts for our mums! the children have made some wonderful flower brooches - they were all so amazing. the children learnt running stitch, blanket stitch, sewing on buttons and brooch pins. the messages they wrote were sooooo cute! here are a few for you to see . . .

this week at craft club . . .

we have been doing some fabric printing! . . . can you guess what fruit and vegetables we used? the children ended up with a lovely tote bag!! they were chuffed to bits and it was so much fun to do!

life . . .

yes there are signs of life in my garden! the snowdrops and crocuses are out in full bloom! i do love this time of year - when buds begin to appear . . . a sure sign that winter is being kicked out!! heeeeyaaaa!

flowers . .

this is an order for a lovely lady who wanted a flower for every day of the week . . . had fun making them slowly over the past few weeks - a little bit of 'crochet mediation'! (when you get lost in the hooking, and before you know it another flower is complete)

something pretty

this week is half term so my plan is to 'do lots of fun things' with the kids . . . yesterday we tried to get homework out of the way leaving the rest of the week full of fun! not only that, the horrible (grey) snow has gone and there is a glimmer of sun trying to break through - it's all good. *smile*

also this week i'm designing a prototype softie for the Craft Club to make next week - once I have some photo's i'll post them up . . . watch this space.

we recently did a cushion party for a lovely little girl and her friends! much fun was had and the finished cushions . . . well they speak for themselves!

bbbrrrrrrr . . . .

yes it's cold! freezing infact! I have been making good use of my toft pom pom beanie i knitted over christmas, thats for sure! it's so warm and scrummy . . . definitely recommend it for this weather. had great fun making the pom pom with such a chunky wool! keep warm peeps!!!
