thought for today

i was just thinking today as i was having breakfast that 'my sisters and me' is not only about my actual sisters. it is also about womanhood too . we are lucky enough to be surrounded by women who form our extended support network - from the mums at the school gates, those who work alongside us, to those who buy our pieces - it's all about you too. i don't want to sound like i'm on the soapbox, but this morning i'm feeling a renewed sense of joy about my SISTERS (perhaps it's because the sun is shining . . .)

my sister sent me this great quote from deepak chopra seven spiritual laws to success so i thought I would share it with everyone else too because it's lovely . . .

'the more you give, the more you will receive, because you will keep the abundance of the universe circulating in your life'

oh and the photo was taken in st ives, cornwall - they remind me of my sisters everywhere!

got this as a belated birthday present - a gift voucher for anthropologie uk. it came in the brown box with the gift card slotted into the monster pouch . . . so cool! had to share this with you all.

we went to see an exhibition called Beware of Embroidery at PM Gallery and House in ealing. it included the work of Tilleke Schwarz. we really love her work. the embroidery was amazing! the mixture of words and images was inspiring. so if you are in ealing, it's worth going to see it (and it's free!!)

got a bit of an obsession with birds. just getting around the photographing all the bird cards . . . here is one just to whet your appetitie

we were asked to make a card for a friends 30th . . . so thought cupcakes were in order. we do love our tea and cupcakes . . . mmmm. just can't get enough of them! so as you can imagine, got a bit carried away with the card making. here are just a few of what was done last night. (oh and that is my arun in the background there - always being helpful!)

ying ying brooch

and finally for today . . . just finished making this cute brooch, which we have named 'ying ying' (after a friend of a friend!!) she will of course have 'sisters' of her very own, which we're working on as i type! (do you recognise her in our logo - she is a bit of a legend for us . . .)

crochet rings

a beautiful necklace made up of various shades of pink wool, crocheted around metal rings.

we have also made it in shades of grey, to be worn as a long necklace (my personal favourite).

valentines day

just getting ready for valentines day . . .

crochet necklace

just finished making this gorgeous grey crochet necklace finished off with vintage buttons. I want one keep this one!! However we are getting ready for a sale on Thursday 11th Feb and have been busy making LOADS of new pieces . . . what fun!!

orange felt

we really love this necklace - which is now owned by by niece. we made some large orange felt beads and teamed these up with some coordinating ceramic and glass beads - a winning combination!

bird brooch

recently made this bird brooch using white and red felt. now looking at variations in colour - it's all about the contrast.

felt and vintage beads

a necklace created out of felt and vintage beads. we love using beads that we have discovered at secondhand markets and charity shops - creating really unique one-off pieces.

this is a necklace which was sold to a good friend just before christmas. it took quite a while to make, but i do love working with felt. i am creating some new colours - greys, pinks and purples . . . so watch this space!
