getting ready for fathers day

fathers day is this sunday, so for the last few weeks at Craft Club we have been decorating terracotta pots and planting. here are some photos of the great fathers day gifts the children made . . .

Lichtenstein comes to harrow arts centre!

last term we based our class on the work of Roy Lichtenstein. there is a wonderful exhibition on at the Tate Modern at the moment and we felt it an ideal opportunity for the children to learn about his work. I think they have such an amazing job with their paintings!

this term we are looking at Lowry - who is also exhibiting at the Tate in June.

spring flowers in pastels

at art club the children drew spring flowers in soft pastels . . . (even though it still feels like winter!!)

happy easter . . .

this easter we have been making some chicks. we made some at Craft Club and at a workshop we ran at Little Willows in Pinner. . .  the results speak for themselves I think.

we also did some printmaking

we used foam tiles to make a printing plate, which was inked up using water-based printing inks. it was messy, but fun!

self portraits

last term at craft club, the children painted self portraits and decorated a frame to put it in! they gave these to their parents as a valentines present . . . a simple and effective way to show off their amazing artwork!

MAKE A BOOK half term workshop

we had a wonderful morning of creativity during our MAKE A BOOK workshop this morning! the children made an A4 book, sewing the spine together. we then read a wonderful book called 'First Flight' by Sara Fanelli as our inspiration. the children then made up their own versions of a first flight or their favourite book using collage! we are soooo very pleased with the results . . . the pictures speak for themselves . . .
